Staff Orientation Programme

Welcome to the University of Western Australia

Orientation programmes for new staff are held twice yearly, just before first and second semesters begin (in February and July). The University is offering expanded orientation sessions to provide more in depth guidance to new and existing staff on core aspects of the University policy and processes. There will be three sessions available to staff. Details of these programmes are emailed to all staff, and heads of school are advised directly by memorandum.

The University Club - Thursday 16 July 2009: 8:50am- 12:00pm

University Club

The aim of the half-day orientation programme is to help staff settle comfortably into their new jobs by:

  • formally welcoming them to the University
  • providing an overview of the University's mission and structure
  • bringing to the attention of new staff many of the opportunities, services and facilities available
  • providing an opportunity for them to meet some of the University's senior staff members as well as other new staff members.

The traditional ˝ day Staff Orientation will continue to provide an overview of UWA’s general context and broad features. This is scheduled at the new University Club. The general Orientation session includes morning tea, an information fair promoting a range of staff services and optional tours of the University. It is anticipated that all new staff will attend this Staff Orientation.
