Campus Tour
The UWA Campus at Crawley
With Stirling Highway and some of the Residential Colleges in the foreground, you can see the entire layout of the campus, stretching out towards the Swan River which wraps around the east and south borders of the grounds. Royal Perth Yacht Club, once home to the America's Cup, sits at the top left of this picture. |
Winthrop Hall and Tower
Winthrop Tower is the tallest building on campus. Situated
on the western end of Winthrop Hall, it is visible for miles
around. Some eight stories high, views from the top include
Royal Perth Yacht Club just the other side of the Guild
Village, the Perth city skyline behind King's Park, and towards
the coast over the surrounding suburbs of Nedlands and Shenton
Park. A part of Winthrop Hall, its clock tower, and part of the
original Hackett Memorial Buildings were made possible through
a generous bequest from the founding father and first
Chancellor, Sir Winthrop Hackett.
This decorative frieze, finished in 1932, can be
found surrounding the top of Winthrop Hall. Such detail adds to
the Renaissance feel of this magnificent building.
